day two with Slick Rick

surfed Seal Beach Jetty on the Slick Rick this afternoon. i hadn’t surfed the jetty in years. there were some waves. i ended up on the furthest point with all the longboarders. i caught 8 waves, with two really long rights all the way to Crabs. the board is fun! but, i wanna “stiffin” it up just a tad. i pushed the fin all the way back now. going to Sano later today for some evening glass hopefully. more fine experimentation to be had…

my wave count on this board is 18 waves.

liking the Slick Rick

so i surfed the Slick Rick for the first time today at blown out Bolsa Chica.
i just wanted to try it.
i loved it.
fell on my ass the first two waves.
by wave 8, i had it dialed in.
so fun!
so fast.
similar to the Zippifish, but with less control and more effortless speed.
my wave count for today is 10.
can’t wait to get this board on some solid faces.
i also have a lot more questions.
how does a 7ft+ hull ride?
how will this board ride with a longer fin?
how would this board ride as a quad? a twin?

i guess this begins my “hull education”…

and now a Zamora Slick Rick Hull…

i surfed the SR last week again with Max and Trevor at Sano and only caught 5 waves cuz it was pretty blown.

i surfed the SR again yesterday with Trevor at Sano and it was fun. way more people in the water because school is out. managed to catch 13 waves.
my current wave count on the SR is 73 waves.

today i traded my Joel Tudor Good Karma for a Zamora Hull Single Fin, 6’6″x22 3/8″x3″, 7.5″ Greenough fin.

not sure what im going to surf next.
i want to get to 100 waves on the SR before i switch it up.
also, the Zamora doesn’t have a leash plug.
yea, i know…’s a retro thing, and i should just hold on to the board, blah blah blah…
but i don’t really care. i’ve surfed boards with out leashes, and it’s fine with a longboard.
i just prefer a leash with a board under 7ft.

dunno if i’ll wake up and surf it.
i’ll just live in the moment…

sano 6/14/11

surfed Sano today on the SR with Trevor.
high tides, but a swell building.
i caught 10 waves.
my wave count total on the SR is 55 waves.

we had a flat tire on the way home.

sano 6/9/11

i surfed sano today on the SR.

it was kinda walled at times, but i caught 7 waves.
i surfed with Trevor and Joe.
i was kinda rusty cuz i just got back from Japan yesterday.

also, i surfed another time after the previous post but i forgot to post it here.
i surfed Sano, rode the SR, and caught 10 waves.

my total wave count on the SR is 45 waves.
i love the board.
it’s nice to ride a single fin again.

hope to surf Sano again tomorrow with Trevor…
