today i created a new blog for Michael Zippi, who is the fantastic owner/shaper of Zippifish Surfboards. the blog is in its very beginning stages, but i intend to have lots of photos and articles featuring the fine Zippifish boards. i love the way these boards ride, and im happy to moderate this new blog. check it out!

as always, feel free to leave a comment.

no surf 6/20/07

ive been busy lately, and it hasnt been surfing. the surf has been flat for awhile now, and its a bummer. if youd like to see what ive been doing lately, click here.

bolsa, zephyr, 6/14/07

today i surfed bolsa again. super small. smaller than yesterday. still, i wanted to try the new bonzer. once again, it rode well. the thinned out rails give the illusion that the board is thinner than it really is. i managed to catch a few little waves and have some fun.

i then went to Zephyr Vegetarian Cafe in da LBC for lunch, and to get some work done. i like this place a lot. excellent veggie food, wi-fi, and a mellow atmosphere.

my brother david and nonni suque surfed with me today. dont remember the last time that happened…

today i surfed bolsa with the bonzer for the first time. i didnt think the board would do too well because the waves were small and crumbly.

i was wrong.
the board was awesome!
i was able to catch everything i paddled for. the board rode very differently than all the fishys ive been riding lately. kinda felt like the back end of the board was “lifting” out of the water. very smooth, fast, and fun! im lookin forward to the next swell and bigger waves. as for now, lets all pray for surf…

bolsa, new bonzer, shelter, 6/12/07

today i surfed bolsa. about waist high, with fair shape. fun! i rode the KG fish.

later i went to Shelter Surf Shop to pick up…

Baby River helped me as well.
he’s gonna own this place someday.

Shelter Surf is all good. owned and operated by Kim Day. full family vibe with much aloha. the shop has only been open for a few days, and this bonzer is the first board she’s sold. she have a sweet selection of boards. no “pop-outs” here. all boards are shaped by national and local legends. she know their stuff. here are a few more photos from the grand opening a few days ago:
